Accessibility
We take accessibility seriously and we are working to make our larps open and available to as many players as possible. We acknowledge that there are many types of accessibility needs and that everyone is unique. The statements below should be considered a starting point not an end point. If you have specific needs or requirements or concerns that are not discussed below we’d invite you to contact us.
Physical access
With regret, we must state that as the location is a 19th century building and it does not have step-free access. There are a number of steep staircases and no lifts. There are no bathrooms on the ground floor, and what bathrooms do exist are not fully accessible.
Sound and light
The venue may be dark at times and relying on stage lighting and LED candles for illumination. There will be an amplified soundscape with background music and sound effects playing across much of the venue. If you have sensory needs please discuss them with us; we may be able to reduce or remove certain frequencies, or increase the lighting if you need us to.
Food and drink
Meals will be served at regular times. If you have specific dietary requirements, we will work to meet them. Please make it clear at the time of booking if you have any specific allergies or intolerances so we can ensure that all foods are clearly labelled. There will be no planned interruptions by the organisers during mealtimes.
There will always be access to food and fresh water.
Timekeeping
There will be some artificial manipulation of the passage of time in the fiction, this will be clearly communicated in the pre-act workshops and the Participant Compendium.
Electricity & Heating
The location is heated and has electricity.
Printed Material
The larp does involve printed material. We will create large print versions of any printed materials if required; please inform us of this during your application.
Opting in
All events are opt-in, not opt-out. Participants can go off-game at any time and without giving a reason. It is always possible to avoid any form of physical interaction at any time. This option is available to all players.
An off-game space is available to all players. You are welcome to enter this space at any time for any reason.
Showers
Some of the showers in the location are open-plan. If required, we will designate showers for specific genders at specific times.
Neurodiversity
We acknowledge the spectrum of neurodiversity and the individual needs of players on this spectrum. If there is anything that you need, or if you have any questions, please feel free to contact us on info @ avalonlarp.studio or via our Facebook page.
Data Security
We will ask participants to disclose any accessibility requirements at the time of their booking. This information will be kept safe and not disclosed to any third parties. Only the organisers of the event will have access to this data.
